PT. Sumatera Specialty Coffees (SSC) is an agribusiness company specializing in the collection, processing, and export of high-quality Arabica coffee beans. Established in 2016, the company has played an active role in improving the quality and welfare of coffee farmers in North Sumatra, especially by sourcing coffee beans from farmers and exporting 95% of its production to Starbucks, the global coffeehouse chain based in the United States.

PT. SSC operates in eight regencies across North Sumatra: North Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Karo, Humbang Hasundutan, Toba, Samosir, Mandailing Natal, and Dairi. The company collaborates with 12,006 certified partner farmers and can collect around 5,000 tons of green coffee beans annually.

Activities and Farmer Development Programs

To produce high-quality coffee, PT. SSC provides intensive training for coffee farmers through socialization, counseling, and the distribution of certified superior seeds from the Coffee and Cocoa Research Center. The company has also provided support by distributing 1.6 million coffee seedlings during the Covid-19 pandemic to sustain production.

As part of its social commitment, PT. SSC has built 30 MCK (bathing, washing, toilet) facilities, clinics, and health posts for farming communities. These programs aim to improve the quality of life and access to healthcare for local communities.
